Tamil Nadu: Woman changes sex to marry another woman

In an incident reported from Tamil Nadu's Namakkal district, a woman reportedly underwent a sex reassignment surgery in order to unite with the love of her life.

The couple, identified as Pavithra and Vishnu Priya, had studied together in a private instituion in Namakkal and have allegedly been involved in a romantic relationship for four years now. When they came out with the truth, their parents did not approve, claiming that the relationship was "unnatural". However, the two of them did not want to separate and this led to Vishnu Priya changing her sexual identity.

Pavithra and Vishnu Priya then got married legally in the presence of lawyers.
