Cinema is the number one choice of entertainment for the people of Tamil Nadu who have patronized theaters for close to a century. Unfortunately the COVID 19 pandemic forced movie halls to shutdown for over eight months affecting the livelihood of lakhs. Eventhough the government allowed screens to open with fifty percent occupancy there has been very little footfalls due to the lack of big heroes films.

There have been requests to the government to increase theater occupancy to hundred percent and recently Thalapathy Vijay met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Pazhaniswamy in person to request the same. Today Simbu too expressed his request for the full functioning of the theaters. The TN government has issued the order allowing hundred percent audience in the movie halls for the two new Pongal releases 'Master' and 'Easwaran'. Standard procedures and hygiene should be strictly followed as per the existing protocols.

'Master' directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and starring Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi is slated for release on January 13th while 'Easwaran' directed by Suseenthiran has Simbu, Nidhi Agerwal and Bharathiraja in the lead roles.
