Three students of a private school died and four others were injured after a toilet wall collapsed at a private school in Tamil Nadu’s Tirunelveli district.

The police reportedly said that the students were queuing up near the toilet when the wall, suspected to have been weakened by the recent rains, collapsed. The three deceased Class 9 students were identified as Suthish R, Anbazhagan K and Vishwa Ranjan D. The other students who were injured have been admitted to the Nellai Government Medical College Hospital. The school’s correspondent, principal, and contractor who constructed the structure have been arrested by the Tirunelveli police.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin announced an assistance of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the three students who were killed and Rs 3 lakh each to the families of the four students who were injured.
