“Michaung one of the best rainfall giving Cyclone,” says Tamil Nadu Weather in his report!

We already informed you that Cyclone Michaung caused severe damage to Chennai, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur and Chengalpet. Now, Tamil Nadu Weatherman has reported that this cyclone gave the highest amount of rainfall in the KTCC region in the last 47 years.

Tamil Nadu Weatherman posted, "Michaung one of the best Cyclone giving rainfall for KTCC, even better than Ogni (2006), Nisha (2008) and Nivar (2000). Note: Nisha was historic for Delta belts." He also shared a detailed report analysing the amount of rainfall in different areas of the KTCC region. It is now going viral on the internet.

Here's his detailed report:

"1976, 1985, 1996, 2005, 2015 and 2023 - the Fluvial Flood years for Chennai - Chennai city crossed 2000 mm rainfall for the Year

Atlast power is Back and signal is too bad. Nungambakkam had recorded 469 mm of rainfall in 48 hrs (230 and 239 mm). Most of which happened in 24 hrs between Sunday night to Monday night. Entire city got 400-500 mm rainfall most of which fell in 24 hrs.

Avadi was the worst 564 mm (276 and 278 mm). Poonamalle 483 mm (141 and 342 mm). This was the reason Cooum River was flowing in brim with extreme rains in upper catchment.

Tambaram 409 mm (173 and 236 mm) in Adyar river upper catchment. Adyar river is also in full brim.

Coming to 3rd Kosasthalayar river which is also flowing in brim. At one point 45000 cusecs was released from Poondi.

Will try to update all historical stats with that of this rainfall once internet and power is restored. This one would be remembered along with all those years mentioned in top.
