The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled the schedule for the first two weeks of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, set to kick off from March 22 to April 7, 2024. This initial phase will witness 21 matches played across 10 cities, with each team participating in a minimum of three matches and a maximum of five.

The 17th season of IPL will commence with an exciting clash between defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai on Friday. The opening weekend will feature two doubleheaders, with Punjab Kings hosting Delhi Capitals on Saturday afternoon, followed by Kolkata Knight Riders facing Sunrisers Hyderabad in the evening. On Sunday afternoon, the action will move to Jaipur, where Rajasthan Royals will take on Lucknow Super Giants. The evening fixture will see Gujarat Titans, the 2022 champions and runners-up from the last season, battling it out against five-time champions Mumbai Indians.

Delhi Capitals, opting to play their first two home matches in Visakhapatnam, will clash with Chennai Super Kings on Sunday, March 31, followed by a match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday, April 3, at the same venue.

In line with previous seasons, the BCCI will collaborate closely with government and security agencies, adhering to all necessary protocols and advisories, especially those related to the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections in India. Once the dates for the 18th Lok Sabha elections are finalized, the Board will reassess and address any scheduling concerns for the initial two weeks. Subsequently, the BCCI will coordinate with local authorities to finalize the schedule for the remaining matches, taking into account the polling dates.
