Anitha belonging to a poor family near Ariyalur committed suicide, broken hearted as her dreams of becoming a doctor was crushed by the failure of both the state and the central governments in their unplanned implementation of the NEET exams.   While many politicians and celebrities attended the last rites of Anitha, Thalapathy Vijay paid a visit to her family yesterday which made headlines.

Anitha's brother Mani Ratnam has stated in an interview that the family was shocked when Vijay entered their house unannounced, and sat down on the ground to speak to them even refusing a chair.  The mass hero had then told the family that he too lost his sister Divya at a young age and he can relate to the family’s grief pointing out that Anitha is also his sister .  The Thalapathy then handed over a lump sum to Anitha’s father and asked them not to reveal it to anyone and had also assured the brothers that they can contact him anytime for any help.  It is learnt that Vijay avoided attending the funeral because he did not want to shift the focus on himself and his visit was also without any fanfare as the police were unaware of it and security was also not given.
