Dhanush as a producer was instrumental in the phenomenal growth of Sivakarthikeyan as he first gave him a supporting role in 3` and later produced the blockbusters Ethir Neechal` and 'Kaaki Sattai'. Unfortunately the two best buddies have grown apart in the past year or so fuelling rumors that Dhanush is unable to digest the huge growth of Sivakarthikeyan.

In a recent interview to a leading daily Dhanush has stated that he and Siva are still friends and even recently played cricket together. He categorically denied rumors that he is promoting Vijay Sethupathi to get back at Sivakarthikeyan. Dhanush added that however his company Wunderbar Films produced low budget films and cannot afford to cast Sivakarthikeyan who is a big star now. The Thangamagan` star asserted that he is proud that his protege`s Sivakarthikeyan and Anirudh have reached the heights they deserve.
