It is a lot more easier for an actor to act in a film with proven subject and formula than experimenting with a new subject. Rather than trying fresh subjects, many actors playing it safe by choosing to remake a film from other languages.

While some South Indian films are being remade in Hindi, our filmmakers are importing subjects from Bollywood and other languages.

In the recent past, some of our south Indian films like 'Parugu', 'Kick', 'Stalin', 'Thuppaki', 'Pizza' etc went to Bollywood. Meanwhile, we are remaking Hindi films like 'Oh My God', 'Aashiqui 2' etc here. Malayalam super hit film, 'Drishyam' has been remade as 'Drushyam' in Telugu and the film is ready for a release. It will be also made in Tamil with Kamal Haasan in the lead.PVP Cinema has already acquired the remake rights of another Malayalam Blockbuster 'Bangalore Days' and it will be made simultaneously in Telugu and Telugu. Dasari Narayana Rao has acquired the remake rights of Tamil super hit film, 'Manjapai' and is getting ready to direct it. Manchu Manoj's 'Current Teega' is said to be a remake of Tamil film,'Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam'.

'Dookudu' is being remade as 'Power' in Kannada. Sundeep Kishan's Telugu super hit film,'Venkatadri Express' will be soon remade in Tamil with Aadi Pinisetty in the lead. The same film is also being remade in Kannada as 'Tirupati Express'. Recently Rajamouli's 'Maryada Ramanna' has been remade in Tamil by Santhanam as 'Vallavanukku Pullum Aayudham'. There are also reports that there is a possible remake of 'Manam' in Bollywood. There are some more Telugu films which are being remade in Tamil and other languages.

Getting success by remaking a film is not always a cakewalk and some times, the movie fails due to comparisons and not living up to expectations.
