In order to convincingly play the role of a bandit in his upcoming film 'Shamshera', actor Ranbir Kapoor had to undergo a physical transformation. The actor usually has a lean physique in most of his movies, but since that would have seemed out of place in a film set in 1800s, he had to gain a lot of muscle for this character. In a recent promotional video, Ranbir talks about the challenges he faced while prepping up for the part.

He states, "Director Karan Malhotra wanted a worker’s body. This guy had spent some serious time in jail. He practically grew in it. This was physically tough to do. I am a thin guy. So to lose weight is very easy for me, but to put on muscle is harder. It’s very complicated. This whole body building business, it’s something which always confuses me but I guess it’s an occupational hazard.”

Director Karan Malhotra who feels that Ranbir looked perfect for the part, says, "My main thing was when you would watch Ranbir on screen, you should feel his impact, physically."

Also starring Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt 'Shamshera' is set to release theatrically on 22nd of this month.
