Thrilled, scared to see myself: Mahesh Babu on wax statue

The unveiling of Mahesh Babu's wax figure, made for Madame Tussauds (Singapore), was on Monday unveiled at Hyderabad's AMB Cinemas.  Besides the actor, his wife Namrata, and children Gautam-Sitara duo made it to the event.

Speaking on the occasion, a representative from Madame Tussauds said, "This is a very special occasion.  Particular thanks to Mahesh and Namrata for helping us host this event in Hyderabad.  This is a unique occasion for Madame Tussauds, Singapore.  This is the first time that we have ever brought a statue to a place internationally.  Not only that it's a special unveiling but also it's the first statue of a Telugu star in Singapore.  We had taken 200 measurements of Mahesh.  It took six months for 20 people to create the figure."

Mahesh was visibly elated on the occasion.  "I am excited, happy, thrilled, scared and it feels weird too.  I am going through all kinds of feelings.  I am meeting myself (referring to the statue)," Mahesh said.  He added, "I have heard so much about MT Singapore.  It's a world-renowned attraction.  It's an honour to be in the league of legends of Indian cinema.  I can't wait to go there with my family to see my statue in Singapore.  It gives me a sense of achievement to have my statue at MT."

Thrilled, scared to see myself: Mahesh Babu on wax statue"Giving my measurements to the sculptors was an incredible process.  I would like to thank the entire team of sculptors.  It was a long process to give the measurements but their attention to detail stunned me.  They captured everything from my eyes to the texture of my skin.  When I showed the wax figure's pics to my family and friends when it was still being made, they couldn't believe it.  They thought it's from my photo shoot.  It's freaking me out to see my own statue," Mahesh added.

Every strand of hair was individually placed by the sculptors on the idol.  "Hats off to them, seriously," Mahesh said.

Soon after the unveiling, the 'Maharshi' actor took a selfie with the statue.

Namrata, Sitara and Gautam walked up to the stage to see the statue from close.
