A keralite who kept a loof from Malayalam cinema for an year will totally be under suspicion, if he suddenly pounce upon a Mammooty cinema of today. Believed by most as an actor who could not deliver comedy in par with other Mallu artists or who could not through his legs to music are all now, the notions kept to describe the Mammootty of yesterday.

We have seen three throughout comedy films of Mammootty last year - of which 2 were super hits and one becoming the biggest groser in Malayalam cinema history. Keeping with this line is the next film in the offering for Vishu - Thuruppu Gulan. In this film Mammootty is seen Performing dances and delivering laughing sequences to the extremes.

The film is the story of Ghulan Kunjumon -  a virtuoso performer in cards and in streets running a roadside shop in Kozhikode popularly known in Kerala as Thattukada. He is the son of Kochuthoma (played by innocent) who runs another Thattukada in front of the star hotel, Raj palace in Ernakulam. The film is all about the clashes between the family of Ghulan Kunjumon and the present caretakers of the star hotel, in the issues of shifting the Thattukada to another place so as to clear off the disturbing small establishments that is posing problems to the hotel.

Sneha playing the female lead is lakshmi, who is the daughter of Chandra Sekhara Menon the original owner of the star hotel, who falls for Ghulan without knowing him as the son of their tenant.

Thuruppu Gulan is the third directorial venture of Johny Antony - after two hits in CID Moosa and Kochi Rajavu. This  comedy family film ,scripted by Uday Krishna and Siby K Thomas team, carries two songs written by Kaithapram and set to music by Alex Paul. Cinematographed by Sanjev Sankar aand Edited by Ranjan Abraham, the other casts of the film includes Jagathy, Devan, Cochin Haneefa, Harisree Ashokan, Salim Kumar and Kalashala Babu.

The other highlights of the film includes a beautifully choreographed song on Mammootty and co. and a few fight scenes set to perfection by Anil Arasu and Mafia Sasi.

This technically brilliant film presently in the last stages of post production is all set to hit the theatres by the second week of April as a Vishu release.
