TN Transport staff to complain about salary cut to Justice Padmanabhan

Transport Department staff and employees of State-run  State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) are planning to meet Justice Padmanabhan to voice their grievances over the cut in salary for seven days in their salary for January.

Transport indulged in unprecedented week-long strike, throwing vehicular movement of State-run buses to minimum across the State. They resumed work only after a settlement was arrived at between representatives of their Unions with the State Government. The strike was called off after the High Court of Madras directed them to return to work of face legal action.

Deputy chief-minister O. Panneerselvam has justified the cut in salary of Transport Department staff and employees by stating that the cut was effected as they had gone on a ‘flash-strike’ without intimating the Govt. in advance.

The employees/staff, who are shell-shocked at the deduction of 7 days of pay and allowances, have decided to take the issue to Justice Padmanabhan’s purview hoping that the Judge would provide them solace.
