Director Mari Selvaraj made his debut with the 2018 movie Pariyerum Perumal starring Kathir and Anandhi, and this movie produced by director Pa Ranjith's Neelam Productions was critically acclaimed and commercially successful.

Now, the movie which spoke about equality and caste based discrimination has got a unique recognition as a question about Pariyerum Perumal had been asked in the TNPSC group 1 exam held yesterday and a screenshot of the question paper has turned viral.

Mari Selvaraj tweeted expressing that the purpose of Pariyerum Perumal was achieved and thanked everyone associated with the movie. After Pariyerum Perumal Mari Selvaraj has directed the Dhanush starrer Karnan.
