The top five songs of the year so far

.Athithom: Set to tunes by Vidyasagar in Rajnikanth starrer Chandramukhi, the song was (and still is) a big craze among the public. S P Balasubramaniam, who rendered the number with grace, is still going strong.

.Randakka: A foot-tapping and rhythmic number by Harris Jeyaraj for Anniyan is making waves now. Rendered by Jassie Gift, Shreya Ghoshal and KK, the song picturized in a grand manner is heard in every street corner now.

.Kumbida Pona Theivam: A peppy and earthy song in Thirupachi, this song by Shankar Mahadevan and Malathy, was set to tunes by Dhina. It added to the cult image of Vijay among his fans.

.Poo Poothathu: A stunning and haunting melody from the old master Ilayaraja in Mumbai Xpress. For a film, which should logically been in the top five of the year, the song's success was small comfort. This was perhaps the most melodious song of the season.

.Mudhal Mazhai: Harris's magic at work again. A simple melody that had audiences drooling. The song was one of the reasons for the success of Ullam Ketkumae More.
