Top Five

Surprising as it may seem, the capers of ageing Kamal and the rotund Prabhu are still working. Vasoolraja MBBS is decidedly a winner. The doctor has provided a shot in the arm to its producer.

2. M Kumaran s/o Mahalakshmi

Released this week, the film has evoked a lot of expectation, as it is Ravi's second movie after Jeyam. Nadhiya, on a comeback, is also a draw card for the film.

3. Chellame

Reema Sen's plucky show and Bharath's spunk carry this film a long way forward. The music of Harris Jeyaraj and the camerawork of K V Anand are the other attractions. New comer Vishal is good. For director Gandhi Krishna this is a promising debut.

4. Giri

For Sundar C, popular mass director, the fall has been drastic. None of his last few films have been hits. And Giri, with Arjun and Reema Sen in the lead, looks to be a flop unless there is a dramatic late pick up. The film is typically full of fights and fun but nothing else.

5. Arasaktchi

Long inside the cans, the film smells of mothballs. The Western beauty of Lara Dutta has cut no ice with Tamil fans. Arjun is too predictable. Could have been a winner five years ago.
