The recently released Gethu` produced and starring Udhayanidhi Stalin under the Red Giant Films banner was denied tax exemption by the TN government citing that the title was not a Tamil word. Udhayanidhi Stalin filed a case against the government in the High Court and the case came up for hearing yesterday.

The judge after hearing Udhay`s counsel has come to the conclusion that Gethu` is indeed a Tamil word as even Arunagirinathar in his Thirupugazh has sung Gethu Manamudaya Muruga` meaning arrogant face of the Lord Muruga. The judge has asked the government to give their explanation as to why they have not given tax exemption as the film as qualified by getting a U certificate in the censors also. The case has been adjourned to the 27th of this month.
