Comedian Vadivelu witnessed tense moments after a police complaint against him for allegedly assaulting DMDK chief and actor Vijayakanth's manager in a minor scuffle at Valasaravakkam.

Vadivelu is said to have sought refuge at the police station, fearing attack from the DMDK supporters who gathered in large numbers.

Police said the comedian had objected to parking of cars in front of his office by people who had come to the funeral of Vijayakanth's brother-in-law Muthraman, who died of some ailment.

As Vijayakanth and his wife had gone out of station, the DMDK leader deputed his manager Sathish Kumar to supervise the funeral arrangements. Vadivelu who noticed the cars being parked in front of his office is said to have abused them.

When Sathish Kumar and driver Gangadharan tried to pacify him, Vadivelu accompanied by few men allegedly assaulted the duo. Immediately, Sathish lodged a complaint with Virugambakkam police. On hearing this, Vadivelu rushed to the police station and filed a counter petition. However police tried to reconcile both the parties.

Vadivelu reportedly sought refuge at the police station when DMDK cadres besieged the police station.
