Director Vasanth, who is known for his down-to-earth themes, tries his hand at a similar theme in his next Sathumpodaathay.

A one-time associate of veteran K Balachander, Vasanth, says, 'I ensure that my movies are easily identified by common man. Sathumpodaathay is a similar attempt which is about the problems faced by a middle-class family'.

Heaping praises on Prithviraj, the film's hero, Vasanth says, 'Though he has just made a beginning in Tamil, his commitment to excel and give life to the character deserve a special mention. So is Padmapriya. Her free-flowing expressions are big plus for the movie'.

Vasanth has a great love for Tamil literature. In Sathumpodaathay, Prithviraj plays the role of a youth who is fond of Tamil literature.

Vasanth is also planning to direct movies based on stories penned by the likes of Ashokamithran and T Janakiraman.
