Actors Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday, who had gone to a shopping mall in Navi Mumbai to promote their upcoming movie Liger, were forced to leave the event midway after a large crowd gathered at the venue, leading to a stampede-like situation.

Visuals from the event reportedly showed people shoving each other and pushing through the barricades to get closer to the actors at the centre stage. A woman apparently almost fainted after feeling suffocated. Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday, who were all set to take part in a special activity at the mall, were asked to leave for the safety of everyone present.

“The moment Vijay took to the stage, there were sounds of swooning all round. The organizers and volunteers were shocked to see that a few female fans fainted and a few other girls started crying. Loads of fans had posters and sketches of Vijay and then the chants of ‘Vijay we love you’ started,” a source was quoted as saying by an entertainment portal.

Vijay Deverakonda took to his Instagram stories to address the same later that night. “Your love has touched me. Hope you all are safe and back home. Wish I could have been there with you all so much longer. Thinking about you all as I go to bed. Goodnight Mumbai,” he wrote. Liger, which also stars Mike Tyson and Ramya Krishnan, will hit the screens across the world on August 25, 2022.
