Vijay Sethupathi Birthday special

Life was going in a very normal manner for Vijaya Gurunatha Sethupathi. From a being below average student in school to doing odd jobs, moving to Dubai to work as an accountant and his return to India after not being happy with the work, life had not been so kind on Sethupathi. And that was when it happened. Vijay Sethupathi joined the famed Koothupattarai as an accountant, and slowly ventured into acting, with blink and you miss appearances in movies like Lee, Pudhupettai, Vennila Kabaddi Kuzhu and Naan Mahaan Alla.

The vibrant youngster finally got the much needed big break, as Naan Mahaan Alla maker Suseenthiran recommended Vijay to Seenu Ramasamy, who offered him his first lead role in Thenmerku Paruvakatru(2011), and from then, it was no turning back for Vijay Sethupathi. 2012-13 announced his arrival strongly, as he played varied roles - a villain in Sundarapandian, a scheming Pizza delivery boy Michael Karthikeyan in Karthik Subbaraj's Pizza, Premkumar, a youngster with retrograde amnesia in Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom, conman Das in Soodhu Kavvum and a happy go lucky youngster Sumar Moonji Kumar in Idharkuthaane Aasaipattai Balakumara. The variety and the natural charm Sethu added to the characters, made him an instant hit among audience.

By then, Vijay Sethupathi had mastered the art of choosing scripts and the knack of making audience fall for him every time he made an onscreen appearance (even within gap of weeks), as he excelled in any role that he was given, making it appealing, be it a Michael of Iraivi, Pondy Pandi of Naanum Rowdythaan, Doctor Dharmadurai, Gandhi of Aandavan Kattalai, the deadly gangster Vedha of Vikram Vedha, or a K.Ramachandran of 96.

Be it his life like performances or his next door hero looks and body language, his off screen talks that are more of a morale booster for youngsters with experiences from his life turning out to be a philosophical mood changer for many, his unconventional choice of scripts and his unique bonding with fans and the way he is extremely attached to them, Vijay Sethupathi has truly lived up to his tag of Makkal Selvan, gifted to him by his mentor Seenu Ramasamy.

Having achieved the milestone of 25 films in less than a decade with Seethakathi, achieving the dream of working with ace director Maniratnam in Chekka Chivantha Vaanam and playing the antagonist to Superstar Rajnikanth himself in Petta, Vijay Sethupathi's rise from being a supporting artist in Pudhupettai to being a highlight of Petta, has been phenomenal, and the actor is sure to surprise and treat his millions of die-hard fans and moviebuffs with his upcoming movies this year!

Here's wishing Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi a very Happy Birthday, and wishing him all success for his future endeavors, and for the new beginnings in Telugu and Malayalam as well!
