Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi's 'Laabam' first look poster was unveiled on Saturday and true to the caliber of the hero and the director S.P. Jananathan its loaded with powerful social messages. The poster has statues of a policeman shooting a farmer who falls to the ground with plough in hand as a woman with a small child cries out in grief even as a femae activist raises her voice. In the middle the word "CITIZEN" is written while Vijay Sethupathi with a loud speaker on his shoulders is trying to convey his message on a mic.

Jananathan has explained that the word "CITIZEN' on the poster of 'Laabam' denotes all those present including the policeman and signifies the fights of the people against government terrorism all over the world. The statues were sculpted for the film by popular sculptor and painter Chandru whose first work for a movie is this one even though he got many offers in the past and declined them.

'Laabam' is jointly produced by Vijay Sethupathi and Arumugakumar and has Shruti Haasan as the leading lady while Kalaiarasan, Sai Dhansika, Harish Uttaman and Jagapathy Babu play other important characters. D. Imman is scoring the music with Ramji taking care of the camera and Antony the editing.
