Captain Vijayakanth's son Shanmuga Pandian was launched as a hero in 2015 with the movie Sagaptham. The movie was a failure and later after three years he tried his luck again in the movie Madura Veeran co-starring Samuthirakani and the movie was also a failure.

Currently, Shanmuga Pandian is acting in his third movie as hero, and this movie has been titled as Mithran. This movie will have Shanmuga Pandian playing a police officer for the first time in his career, and also stars Ronica Singh and is directed by debutant Boopalan.

Now it has been said that Shanmuga Pandian has signed his fourth movie as a hero as well, and this movie will be produced by K productions which co-produced movies like Pyaar Prema Kadhal, distributed Baahubali 2. The yet to be titled movie will be directed by debutant Kasi Varman.
