One of the biggest hits in the career of Illayathalapathy Vijay is Kaththi` directed by A.R. Murugadoss and produced by Lyca Entertainment. The film dealt with the exploitation of water resources by corporates but however one Rajashekar of Illangadu village near Trichy went to court stating that the film has been copied from his shot Thaagabhoomi` and is on trial.

Megastar Chiranjeevi has reportedly chosen to remake Kaththi as his 150th film and the shooting is set to begin soon. Now villagers of Illangadu and the surrounding areas numbering over 300 have joined together in support of Rajasekhar and have sent a mass signed protest letter to Chiranjeevi requesting him to discard the remake. Efforts are also said to be on to collect signatures from people of the entire Thanjavur district.
