The tall, dark and handsome hero of Tamil cinema, Vishal, is gearing up to play a tough cop in his next movie Sathyam.

Says Vishal, “I like to act in a fantasy role one day. It should be like Superman or Spiderman. That's a genre Tamil cinema needs to explore. Also sequels. With the multiplex culture catching on, such films might become a reality.”

“There's greater acceptance for offbeat attempts. The audience has raised the bar,” he says.

When asked about doing a police man's role, Vishal says, “The offer came soon after Sandakozhi. But I accepted it only recently, because I believed the role demanded a certain level of maturity. Now, after Thimiru, Sivapathigaram and Thamirabarani, I feel confident.”

Vishal compliments his father G K Reddy and his brother Vikram Krishna for helping him attain the stardom so early in his career.

Vishal is not bothered about the great level of competition in the industry today.

According to him, “It's like running on a racetrack with space for everyone. We are focussed on the finishing line, instead of looking side-ways at who's on the next lane.”
