When satellite rights amount exceeds budget

Imagine the amount a producer exceeding the budget of his film! This has just happened with Prasad V Potluri, the proud producer of Kshanam. Made on a budget of about Rs. 1.25 cr, this film's satellite rights has fetched Rs. 2.70 cr.

Released on Feb 26 amid low expectations, this suspense thriller-drama has gone on to get critical acclaim on the one hand, and audience appreciation on the other. Even as the film is running well across the two Telugu States, in Karnataka and Chennai, Fox Studios has thought it apt to release the film with subtitles in the States like Maharashtra and Gujarat, among others. Meanwhile, Bollywood's production houses are learnt to be vying for its remake rights.

Director Ravikanth Perepu and writer-actor Adivi Sesh must be on a cloud nine.
