'Amara Samskriti' Salute to PBS

'Sahasra Chandra Darshana' a program plan prepared by Amara Samskrithi in consultation with Amrutha Varshini headed by Ravindra Devagirikar of Pune in the presence of Dr PB Srinivas was held in his absence but not missing the ideologies of the veteran singer on the memorable evening at Tripura Vasini in Bangalore Palace on Tuesday.

In the presence a very good gathering and three top singers - Dr KJ Yesudas, Dr SPB and Smt Vani Jayaram on stage and veterans like Dr B Saroja Devi, Dwarakish, BV Radha and others attending the event given a rich tribute to the recently demised mellifluous singer Dr PBS.

According to the wish of Dr PBS - eight language literary personalities - 100 years young Prof G Venkatesubbaiah, 88 years Prof LS Seshagiri Rao, 88 years Dr Hu Srinivasaiah, 90 years Hazrat Nayeem Iqbal, 93 years Venkata Swminathan, Krishan Namboodri, Venkata Ranga Rao were honored on this occasion by Amruthavarshini. A memento, Mysore Topi, shawl, garland and two other presentations were bestowed on the stalwarts in literature from different languages.

Mallepuram G Venkatesh eminent Sanskrit and Kannada litterateur Vice-Chancellor of the Sanskrit University in Karnataka state read out the achievements of eight personalities of different languages.

Ravindra Devagirikar almost like one of the sons of Dr PBS invited four sons of Dr PBS on stage and bestowed honor what was supposed to go to the legendary singer. Among four songs one Mr Nandakishore changing lyrics of famous Kannada song sung by Dr PBS - Hadonda haduve Nee Kela Maguve....addressed the song to his father as 'Hadonda haduve Nee Kela Thande....

Four sons of Dr PBS later honored the living legends Dr KJ Yesudas, Dr SPB and Smt Vani Jayaram. At the beginning of the memorable evening in front of Dr PBS portrait 'Thuppada Deepa' was lighted. There was also 'Chitabasma' of the legendary singer.

Dr SPB and Vani Jayaram song Endedu Ninnanu Marethe....was richly applauded, Dr KJ Yesudas Harivasanam.....received thunderous applaud. Smt Manjula Gururaj, Chandrika Gururaj, Mohan, Badariprasad, Ajay Warier and the melodious flute of Pravin Godkindi at the honor of eight persons thrilled the well attended gathering.

A book consisting of PB Srinivas with exclusive photos penned by Srinath was released by Dr B Saroja Devi, BV Radha and Dr Jayanthi.
