One of the senior artists in the supporting roles Uma Shivakumar passed away on Tuesday morning at a private hospital in Bangalore.
Known as 'Bandi Bangaramma' among the audience of Kannada cinema Uma Shivakumar acted in over 150 films with strong roots from theatre.
She was in the stage plays of Dr Girish Karnad, BV Karanth, CR Simha and others before making debut in 1972 in 'Vamsha Vruksha'. It is the debut film of Dr Vishnuvardhana in a small role and then he turned hero from 'Nagarahavu' a blockbuster.

She was the founder of first lavish beauty parlor in Bangalore and gave employment opportunities in her flourishing business career. She also started a college in beauty parlor in 90's. She has left behind her husband Shivakumar, a daughter and son.
The body of departed soul Smt Uma Shivakumar was brought to her residence in Kumara Park West on Serpentine Road in Bangalore and kept for public and Kannada film industry last look.
In the last one week three persons connected to Kannada film industry have passed away. First it was director cum journalist Vinod Khandali of Belgaum. He directed his first Kannada cinema 'Neralu' that is yet to release. On last Sunday morning Kunigal Nagabhushan passed away. He was ace dialogue writer and actor in Kannada filmdom. On Tuesday morning the sad end of renowned actress of yesteryears in character roles Uma Shivakumar bid good bye.
