Gubbachigalu Preview

Yet another youngster Abhaya Simha from Mangalore armed with three years degree from Poona Film and Television Institute has given a new thought in his debut film 'Gubbachigalu'. The film 'Gubbachigalu' has been selected for Indian Panorama Section of 2008 is a great honor for the first time director Abhaya Simha.

'Gubbachigalu' is all about the hustle-bustle of the concrete jungle of a sprawling city losing the sparrow in our environment. Two children go on a quest to find 'their' missing sparrow. This film Gubbacchigalu (Sparrows) takes us with the children - Ila and Anirudha - on their journey as they pursue the elusive sparrow. They set off from home with a guilt-ridden conscience that they may have been responsible for the sparrow's disappearance. But it is their innocence and curiosity that take them on a trail of learning and discovery as they arrive at unusual places and meet unusual people. Everyone they meet says that sparrows are around but are they really there? Unable to find even a single sparrow in sight, the children's anxiety and guilt only grows after each encounter. Do the children finally find the sparrow? The once ubiquitous sparrow is now almost an extinct species.  This movie brings into sharp relief the realities of urban life, curious young minds and a dwindling biodiversity.

Abhaya Simha armed with Poona Film and Television Institute degree is a graduate from St. Aloysius College in Mangalore studied Kannada and English literature besides focusing on Journalism. He had directed quite a few short and documentary films. 'Euphoria' is the music video Abhay Simha directed turned out to be very popular.

'Gubbachigalu' is produced by B Suresha and Shylaja Nag in the banner Media House Studio. Senior Journalist from Udayavani Kannada newspaper NAM Ismail has lent the story. Script and Direction is by Abhaya Simha. The cast includes Prakruthi, Prathama, Abhilash, Achyut Rao, Anu Prabhakar, Rajesh, Rangayana Raghu and others.

Dr.Vikram Srivatsav is the man behind camera and Anmol Bhave scores the music for 'Gubbachigalu'.
