The Director of 'Gandhi' passed away

Richard Attenborough – One of the great British actor, academy award winner, and the creator of memorable ‘Gandhi’ is no more. Richard was suffering from poor health and passed away last night (Sunday). His son Michael has confirmed his death, as per the popular media reports.

Mr. Attenborough was born in 1923, and made his way to an acting career in his teens itself. He was a trained Pilot, and registered his presence in World War II as well. He had a splendid 60 years in the industry & carved his signature as an actor & director. ‘Flight of the Phoenix’, ‘ The Sand Pebbles’, and ‘The Chess Players’ are the few movies which can stand tall for the decades to come.

As John Hammond, Richard’s character was the key element in ‘Jurassic Park’ and as Santa Claus in ‘Miracle on 34th street’ will be remembered forever. His ‘Gandhi’ was nominated for 11 academy awards and won 8 including best picture, best director, best cinematography, best original screenplay, and best actor (Ben Kingsley).
