Vaali Sir, You Are Fondly Remembered

Vocabulary falls short to describe the gratitude we have towards a man who has verbalized music across generations. From the earliest classical times as 'Azhagar Malai Kallan' and 'Chandrakanth' to the latest hep style of 'Thillu Mullu' and 'Mariyaan', Tamil cinema looks up to the man who has penned countless number of songs, in awe. In a highly creative mission, the late poet Vaali has written more than fifteen thousand songs in his career, all of which suit audience of every interest and all walks of life, at every stage.

Born as Rangarajan, and later christened Vaali for his peerless prowess in penning words, the legend was rewarded with numerous awards and recognition, including the Padma Shri by the Government of India. The legendary poet met his sad demise a few months back, due to ill health. Eighty two years back, this very day saw the proud arrival of one of the most celebrated lyricists of all times. Today, on his birthday, we fondly remember Vaali and miss him dearly. With heartfelt prayers for the poet, here's wishing the late legend, a very happy birthday!
