Thursday, June 01, 2006

Director Selvaraghavan's Puthupettai has got the rare distinction of becoming the first film in India to be released in D Cinema format.

The movie which was shot using the Super 35 technology has been appreciated as the 'technically best film'. The D Cinema release is one more feather in its cap.

D Cinema otherwise called Digital Cinema is a standard defined by Hollywood with servers and digital cinema projections with defined security standards. They ensure digitally perfect images and quality sounds.

At a function held in Sathyam Cinemas on Thursday to mark the D-Cinema release of Puthupettai, director Selvaraghavan said, 'It has been dream for a long time for such an innovative system in Tamil. The launch has really thrilled me. The visual quality has been stunning'.

According to Kiran Reddy, managing director, Sathyam Cinemas, 'The D-Cinema server from Real Images proved that it was built to meet international standards. The screening of the movie D-Cinema server is a historic event'.

Among others who took part on the occasion included actress Sonia Agrawal and cinematographer Aravind Krishna.
