Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable and unforgettable experience for the Hyderabad girl, flush with her success in Telugu. With three films to her credit, Madhumitha said she was pleased with a range of offers, each as different from chalk and cheese. More of that later.
The striking resemblance to yesteryear actress Rathi Agnihotri did help her strike an instant chord with her fans. The svelte Madhumitha had been flooded with letters, her good work winning her a lot of appreciation.
What was special in Kudaikul Mazhai. The poser only triggered her to pour her heart out.
'I could improvise at every turn and at every frame. The advice was to imagine myself as a fountain and sprinkle in a deluge of joy all round. No way the character imagined that her love was not true. By concealing that angle, the director could bring out the feelings with all its splendor and freshness.'
Any difficult moments, considering how tough a taskmaster is Parthiban.
'The language part of it was the least of the problem. Could bring in the realism once I got hooked with the script. I guess, it was a complicated role which brought the best out of me. The climax was chilling - shrieking out at the highest pitch was a test of my vocal chords. Those were testing moments good enough to get the butterflies in the stomach.'
If she passed the first test with a riot of colors, the second one awaits her. Directed by Ezhil, Madhumitha is paired with Jai Akash in the untitled venture. A sublime love story is all she would gush, with clear instructions not to reveal any more. Talking of revealing, her comfort did not seem to take any knock in the tight costumes which the storyline demanded as the anchor of a satellite channel. 'I am not the sort to take a yard given an extra inch.Glamour is an essence to be poured in drops. Any extra allowance is an invitation to disaster.'
Happy she is that her career is molding up in the right shape. The start in Telugu had been near perfect with Sandade Sandati netting a huge grosser. Films like Ammayulu Appayulu and Puttingidi Kira Cheli were good enough as consolidation. Madhumitha's happiness stemmed from the fact that no two roles were similar. If she played a rich, spoilt girl in one, she had been showered the world of affection by a loving brother in the other. Not short of humor too, she butts in.
Things have indeed rolled nicely for the sweet mannered girl.
