Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M Karunanidhi on Sunday launched the music of ‘Ponnar Sankar’, a Prashanth-starring film directed by Thyagarajan, which is based on a script by the octogenarian.
The first copy of the audio album, composed by maestro Illayaraja, was received from the Chief Minister by industrialist Pollachi N Mahalingam, in a function attended by politicos, industrialists, Tamil scholars and big guns from the tinsel town.
Speaking on the occasion, Karunanidhi said that the story of ‘Ponnar Sankar’ was initially heard by him from others and was later penned as a novel. “It is the story of two brave brothers,” he said.
Produced by Prashanth’s home banner Lakshmi Shanthi Movies, ‘Ponnar Sankar’ was made on a high budget, according to Thiyagarajan. Others who were present at the audio launch were Union Minister D Napoleon, Prashanth, Illayaraja, lyricist Vairamuthu and Tamil scholars Va Se Kuzhandhaisami and Silamboli Chellappan.
