Fazil was one among the mainstream cine persons to have been vocal against Kamal over the 'Premam' controversy. However, there has come out a clarification that Kamal did not say that 'Premam' is a bad movie.

And regarding the hullabaloo concerning the piracy issue, Kamal did not mean that nothing need to be done, but that there are more important matters at hand to talk about that the piracy of the movie. Upon knowing this Fazil was sorry to have locked horns with Kamal over the matter and for misunderstanding the context on which Kamal talked.
