Hamid Ansari, before relinquishing his Vice-Presidential post, made a certain comment, which has gone down differently with different sets of the populace. He had said that there is unease in a particular minority community, besides calling out "hyper-nationalism" as a sign of "insecurity".

"Those statements by #HamidAnsari sahab on his last day as VP..what is he trying to do now? Trying to get into JNU as student? Age is perfect," a popular parody account put it.

On a serious note, others hit out at Ansari both thought-provokingly and sarcastically.

"10yrs. Enjoyed all pelf and privilege. Distributed patronage to ideological cronies. Now back to favourite past time," the CEO of a magazine said.

"The statement made by #HamidAnsari is absolutely not commendable. As a VP one should not say anything generalizing a particular community," a user opined on Twitter.

"On his last day in office, Vice President Hamid Ansari suddenly feels Muslims in India are restless. Really? What about last 10 years?" Aditya Raj Kaul said.
