Ambati Rayudu’s announcement of retirement from international cricket was sudden and unexpected. He had been dropped for the World Cup squad and was not called in even as a replacement even when 2 players were injured. Trolls and memes about him were flooding the internet. Amidst all the commotion, it came to be known that the batsman had called it quits.

Now cricketers have been bidding him farewell and wishing him well. Players such as Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar and Suresh Raina took to Twitter to share their wishes. Sachin Tendulkar posted: “Thank you for all your contribution to Indian Cricket, Ambati. Have fond memories of spending time with you during your stint at @mipaltan. Wishing you all the best for your 2nd innings.” Virat Kohli said: “Wish you the best going forward Ambati. You're a top man ?????? @RayuduAmbati.” Suresh Raina shared: “Goodbyes are always hard! Congratulations on an amazing cricketing career, @RayuduAmbati. What a journey it has been! Will miss our dressing room conversations! Onwards & Upwards, my friend!”

The Chennai Super Kings twitter handle also wished Rayudu saying: “A true-blue fighter bids adieu to the game that meant everything to him! May all your endeavours see the grandest of successes, Bahubali! #WhistlePodu ????.” They also said: “Rayudon't! Wish it wasn't true! ?? #AmbatiRayuduRetires.” Fans must also be upset seeing the talented batsman retiring early.
