Julayi Music Review

Julayi will entertain those who do not expect much, but it might cause some disappointment for diehard DSP fans.  It is a decent album, entertaining in its own way.  Rama Jhogaya Sastry, Sri Mani and DSP himself pen the lyrics for this unusual album, whose songs centre more around the character Arjun as also actor Arjun.

The vocals of Suchith Suresan, Priya Himesh, Adnan Sami, Tippu, Megha, Sagar, Ranina Reddy, Malgadi Subha are good.

Devi Sri Prasad peps up the song with his energy-pumping music.  While the song gives ample scope for Arjun to jive like a superstar, Sastry's lyrics and the tuning are found wanting.  The 'item' touch towards the end is entertaining though.

The song is not novel in its package.  It is old wine in new bottle, but Devi Sri continues his Gabbar Singh-kinda lyricism with gusto here again.  Adnan Sami's vocals are pleasant on the ears.  The instrumentation gives scope for comedic steps.

This song, like the first two ones, comes with shades of different kinds of music.  Tippu's vocals sound familiar and put life into the song.  Sri Mani of Love Failure doesn't disappoint with his notable lyrics.  DSP gives scope for the actor to be maverick in his dance.

Jassie Gift makes a jaunty comeback with this windy solo number.  His voice, needless to say, is offbeat and that is his biggest asset.   Sri Mani's lyrics are easy on ears.  Devi Sri could have spun a novel song.

Somehow the song doesn't match the awe the combination of DSP-Trivikram-Arjun evokes.  Sri Mani's lyrics may have been written by a dilettante, as one doesn't need to come up with the tag of a lyricist to pen such pedestrian language.  As of the vocals of Sagar and Ranina Reddy, it is they who keep the interest alive.

The song follows a different track in that it is classy and massy at once.  Sastry's lyrics are interesting, and Devi Sri marshals his improvising skills to come up with jiving beats.  Malgadi Subha's voice is, again, offbeat, making the song a haunting one.  The second best from the album, so to speak.
