Year 2016 is half way through. Comparing to previous years, the first half of 2016 has been a remarkable one for Mollywood with more number of movies performing well at the box office. At the same time there were some movies which came in with much hype and ended up biting the dust.

Darwinte Parinamam is the first in the list. A much awaited Prithviraj movie after 4 hits did not expect anything less than a hit. But unfortunately the film failed to impress the audience.

Biju Menon expected a big hit when he joined hands with director Ranjith for Leela. But that Unni R.scripted movie ended up with mixed reviews.

One of the biggest disaster in the first half of 2016 is Kunchacko Boban's Vallim thetti Pullim thetti. Expectations were really high even if most of the crew were newcomers but the movie crashed in the box office.

Prithviraj came with his third release of the year, James and Alice. Even though the movie had a good opening, it failed to reach up to the expectations because of its dramatic story line and slow pace.

When Roshan Andrews teamed up with Bobby Sanjay for School Bus the expectations would be huge but the movie collapsed satisfying only a group of audience.

Actually the above mentioned movies were not that bad. They were all packed with stunning songs, visualisations, huge star cast and nice stories but the high expectations and pre- release hypes backfired them in the box office. Even though these movies satisfied a group of viewers they failed to reach up to the expectations of many.
