In an interesting opening up, Tamil superstar Vikram has acknowledged that Malayalam superstar Mammootty had been his role model in acting. Vikram says that it was the megastar who inspired him to go for variety, than to stick to hero centric roles. The star as an example of his role model's brilliance also observed that though Mammootty had been in a number of movies as a police officer, he had been able to do justice to each of the roles by making it different in appearance as well as in his manoeuvres.

Vikram was talking in the wake of his new release 'Daivathirumakan', in which he plays an youth with just the mental development of a six year old child. The movie which will be on theatres in a week, is said to be Vikram's best in his acting career so far.
