Mammootty's comments on serial actors had become controversial recently. However, it is now a talking point that those comments need not be taken in a serious vein. According to many, including serial director Sujith Sunder, Mammootty's comments were very light-hearted.

Mammootty had also found support from ace director Sathyan Anthikad too. The event was attended by the leading serial artistes and some cine artistes. Many have not found the comments in bad taste and have laughed it off. Sujith advises the media to do so too, and points to how some of Mammootty's words have been twisted out of context.
