Though Mohanlal has won many awards and accolades in his remarkable career, the complete actor has never tried to lose weight or muscle up for any role. But now, the actor is shedding some weight for his ambitious project Odiyan in which he will need to be looking very slim and young. In a recent interview, Mollywood's superstar Mohanlal was asked about his plumpy figure, to which he replied that one cannot get over their genetic disposition with exercise.

"It is, of course, better for an actor to be fit and on the slimmer side. Many might feel my physique not suitable for an actor. But at the same time, one's physique depends on a lot of factors like genetics. It is not always possible to get over one's genetic disposition with exercise," said Mohanlal.

In the movie, Mohanlal plays the last surviving member of a tribal community called Odiyan in Kerala. Mohanlal will be seen in the role of Manikyan, a man who is mastered in Odividya and will be featured in the age of 30 to 65 in multiple looks. As the character demands tremendous flexibility and agility, Mohanlal will be shedding close to 15 kilos, to attain the movie's first look avatar.

'Odiyan' will have Manju Warrier in the female lead along with Prakash Raj and Sathyaraj in important roles. While art director Prasanth Madhav will also be recreating Thenkurissi village for the shooting, renowned fight-master Peter Hein will be choreographing the action sequences. The movie's shoot is progressing at a brisk pace in Varanasi.
