In a horrifying incident, a 16-year-old Muslim boy was stabbed to death and his brothers grievously injured on a train in Haryana for apparently no reason. The accused said he was drunk and egged on by friends.

Police reports said that a disagreement over seats quickly snowballed into violence, with the friends of the accused insinuating that the boys were anti-national and carrying beef. The boys were in fact returning home after making purchases for Eid.

One of the brothers said that the passengers did not come to their rescue, rather provoked the attackers.
