Apart from its internationally acclaimed creator Santhosh Sivan, one of the men in the crew who is receiving the maximum of accolades for the success of 'Urumi' seems to be its scriptwriter Shankar Ramakrishnan.Undoubtedly a script that supersedes the quality of all recent historic tales including 'Pazhassiraja', Shankar is evident to have done the maximum of research before throwing light into the undefined patches of our own history woven around the arrival of portugese sailor Vasco da Gama.It requires courage, prowess, aptitude and firm belivf on the subject to make a soulful, opulent movie.

And for the first time, the desi men seems to have figured out a different faces of the Portuguese who were never shown in our history classes as invaders, but some men of wisdom who accomplished much by discovering the ways for the North to India.Shankar has also succeeded in creating links between events separated by centuries, that reworks the same characters in different spirits but in a busy capitalistic, modern times. The seamless interweaving and tight construction of subplots including that of temple deity played by Vidhya Balan and playfulness of Chirakkal Bala played by Nithya Menon, with crisp dialogues soaked in acid at times, keeps you hooked and the romantic tracks of the movie are also wonderfully placed.

As Shankar is happy with the results of this 'Urumi' that leaves you spellbound, entranced and awestruck, he will be soon seen as the lead actor in the new movie 'Leela' to be directed by Renjith, for whom Shankar served as an associate for long. The movie based on a story with the same name by R Unni, will have him as Kuttiyappan in this movie which will also have Prithviraj in a guest role.Shankar will get ready to be on the screen from this 25, when Renjith will start calling the shots to him.All the best wishes for you , Shankar, in all your avatars as a film maker and a quality script writer, that are sure to make Mollywood proud.
