New evidence has corroborated the already established fact that HIV transmission via intercourse while the patient is in treatment is nil to negligent, irrespective of whether the patient is in a heterosexual or homosexual relationship. The latest study large-scale study of homosexual men was presented at the ninth International AIDS Conference on HIV Science in Paris.

While there is some promise in finding a vaccine, prevention and treatment (after diagnosis) is what experts condone. For instance, the study proved that there was zero transmission even during intercourse without protection, but this should not discourage partners from not using condoms. The study also proved that treatment is effective for all types of relationships, given that possibility of transmission during anal intercourse is ten times higher than during vaginal sex.
