Neil Nitin Mukesh may have played the title role in Yash Chopra's 'Lafangey Parindey'. However in his next release 'Shanghai', Emraan Hashmi would be reprising yet another 'lafanga' character in his career for Dibakar Banerjee. As the film gets ready for its release in the first half of next year, there are interesting tid-bits being shared, one of them being centred on Emraan. In this dark comedy, Emraan would be seen in his most street-smart role ever in an eventful career where he has delivered quite a few 'masala' performances and enjoyed good success.

"Yes, you would see Emraan as an out and out 'lafanga' here," laughs Dibakar who is working with the actor for the first time ever, "While the gritty street smart character is tailor made for him, what really impressed me was Emraan revealing his funny bone. The film has a lot of situational humour to it and I am quite happy that Emraan has managed to pull it off so well."

Well, we hope this indeed comes out to be true Dibakar. With Abhay Deol as the other lead, Kalki Koechlin as the heroine and veteran actors Prosenjit Chatterjee and Farooq Sheikh added further weight to the project, 'Shanghai' would be Emraan's next release before he gears up for 'Jannat 2', shooting of which is currently on.
