The Onam festival season normally brings up some new albums based on the festival songs. This Onam hold as an exception has only one cassette came up with the festival songs. This album titled Poothalam by M.G.Sreekumar brought out by Manorama music did made average fare at the stalls. The songs from the Onam movies dominated the hit charts this month too. The top five Malayalam songs are:

1. "Entekalbile" - Film: "Classmates"; Music: Alex Paul; Lyrics: Sarath Varma; Singers: Sujatha and Vineeth Sreenivasan.

The placing of the songs two times in the super hit movie has helped this rhythmic song with a mappila flavor to top the list. Presented as separate solos, this is the latest addition to the hit list of Vineeth Sreenivasan.

2. "Kando Kando" - Film: "Mahasamudram"; Music: M. Jayachandran; Lyrics: Kaithapram; Singers: G. Venugopal and K.S. Chitra.

M. Jayachandran makes a comeback to this list after a long gap and proves his versatility with this album. Venugopal also clings to his next hit of the season.

3. "Hari Rama" - Film: "Classmates"; Music: Alex Paul; Lyrics: Vayalar Sarath Varma; Singers: Devanand, Jyotsna and Soniya.

Director Lal Jose is known for his innovative song picturisation and this song also prove this point.

4. "Shyama Vaanil" - Film: "Aanachandham" Music: Jaison J Nair Lyrics: P.C. Aravindhan; Singers, Venugopal, Akhila.

Venugopal is having a very good time at the charts as this song with the typical Kerala flavor holds into charts. The song with its nostalgic feel very well suits the voice pattern of the singer.

5. "Mugile Mugile" - Film: "Keerthi Chakra"; Music: Joshua Sridhar; Lyrics: Gireesh Puthencherry; Singer: M.G. Sreekumar.

The assured long run of the film and the promotions in the channels prolongs its stay on this list. More over this is the only song in the film with Mohanlal making a screen presence.
