Shankar Ramakrishanan, the scriptwriter of the new movie 'Urumi' that has become the talk of the town, says that it was only due to its star Prithviraj';s beliefs in the script that the movie happened.'I owe it to Prithvi for believing in me and for taking me to the sets of Raavan to met Santosh Sivan' says Shankar.

Santhosh Sivan, on the other hand, was very open and was ready to move away from another typical adaptation and considered Shankar's take on the arrival of vasco Da Gama and its impact on Kerala's sociopolitical history to be a worth plot for a big mvoie. The universally acclaimed cameraman- director also advised Shankar to set a space-time correlative in narration, which is now applauded as one of the movie's highlights . He also approved the scriptwriter's back stories and added local flavors to the narratives.

But the English version of 'Urumi' which is getting ready in the edit rooms, will take a different stance and different structure from the Malayalam version. Heavily impressed by the work of Shankar , Santhosh Sivan has already offered him to write for his next directorial venture which is tentatively titled as' Music room'.The project will be planned as a modern day musical, which will be a bit different from the regular song and dance cinemas.
