They are beautiful, articulate and successful entrepreneurs. Soundarya and Aishwarya took time out of their rather busy schedules to talk of their father. Now, that is not special, but what they said is surely special to any father. More so, if it happens to be the south Indian superstar Rajinikant.

He is way past his prime. Well, he will be turning 58 with this birthday. Still, he is the one hero who can have the entire south India queuing up to watch his films. His inimitable style, his unique dialogue delivery and his modesty off screen has always endeared him to the masses and classes alike. He did his bit for the Hindi cinema and returned to his successful stint in Tamil. As for Telugu, we have a long lineup of Bharatiraja and Balachander movies he had done in the ’70s to take off on a nostalgic trip. Though he hasn’t acted in a full-length Telugu movie in ages, he has nevertheless remained in touch by doing the occasional guest roles for friends like Mohan Babu, not to forget the dubbed films such as the recently released Sivaji.

Rajini himself is not in Chennai, but is having a relaxed birthday abroad. He has only one film in the making right now. Incidentally, it is an animation film and it is the debut directorial venture of his younger daughter Soundarya and is titled Sultan – The Warrior.
