Megastar-turned-legislator from Tirupathi, Mr. Chirajeevi, demanded stringent action against those spreading video piracy. During the Assembly session, he said that the film industry was in throes and likened its bad state saying that it was in an Intensive Care Unit.

He demanded for amendments to the Goonda Act to include pirates and Maharashtra-like rules, where an IPS officer and 100 other law-enforcers are entrusted with the responsibility of busting the pirate 'factories'

Mrs. Geetha Reddy and Chief Minister K Roasiah promised action against video piracy.

After the fast-unto-death undertaken by a producer, the issue has acquired prominence so much so it has been raised even in the State Assembly.

The producers and distributors, currently in the lurch, much be hoping for quick action at least now.
