Rajanna has completed its censor board screening today and was certified as U/A. The film is slated to release on Dec. 22. The overseas release, however, is going to be a day earlier - it will release on Dec. 21.

The period drama, described by Nagarjuna at length during a chat-a-thon with the media recently, is Vijayendra Prasad's decade-old dream. When Ashok Teja, son of late Suddala Hanumanthu, on whose legend the film is based, narrated to him a line and described the Veyi Veyi song situation, Vijayendra Prasad spun the story around it.

Though the producer planned to release the movie on Sept. 30, computer graphics and post-production consumed a lot of time. Later, the advice of the distributors to not release the movie in the month of November as it was not a good period for films delayed it further. Finally, Nag decided to release it for Christmas, because there is a positive sentiment attached with it. At least a handful of his recent Christmas releases were hits.

Rajanna sees him playing a freedom fighter turned anti-Razakar rebel. Fights by SS Rajamoulii are said to have come out well, as per Nag's testimony.
